국내 거주 외국인 창업가들을 위해 서울에서 창업을 시작할 수 있도록 지원하는 서울 글로벌 창업 센터 (Seoul Global Startup Center, SeoulGSC)에서 조직 문화 강의를 진행하였습니다.

주된 내용은 이문화의 이해를 통해 한국 기업들과 임직원들을 이해하고 이에 기반하여 한국에 맞는 조직문화 및 비즈니스를 만들자는 내용이었는데요.

모든 분들이 매우 적극적으로 의견을 피력해 주셔서 즐거운 시간이 될 수 있었습니다.

사실 이문화 상황에서 생활하는 것 만으로도 매우 많은 어려움을 수반하는데 나아가 경쟁을 뚫고 비즈니스를 해야 하는 입장에서는 어려움이 더더욱 많을 것임에 틀림이 없습니다.

그럼에도 오픈되고 겸허하게 새로운 국가의 문화를 수용하고, 이에 적응하려는 모습을 보이는 것에서 많은 것을 배울 수 있었습니다. 

특히 한 분이 한국인들이 네거티브한 피드백을 무조건 싫어하고 좋은 말만 해야 한다고 생각하는 것은 참다운 성장을 하는데 있어 걸림돌이 될 수도 있다는 말을 하셨는데,

충분히 일리있는 말일 수 있겠다는 생각이 들었습니다.

한국 기업들이 바람직한 글로벌 조직문화를 만들기 위해서는 이런 분들의 태도처럼 열린 자세를 지향할 필요가 다분히 있어 보입니다.

I conducted a workshop on organizational culture for foreign entrepreneurs living in Korea at Seoul Global Startup Center, SeoulGSC to help them start their business in Seoul. The main contents were to understand Korean companies and employees through the understanding of cultural differences and to create an organizational culture and business suitable for Korea. It could have been a great time since everyone expressed their opinions very actively. In fact, living in different culture is very challenging. Therefore, it would be even more difficult to run business through competitions. I learned a lot from their being open and humble in embracing and trying to adapt to the culture of the new country. In particular, when one person said that the way Koreans believe that they hate negative feedback and must say only good things can prevent them from truly growing up, I thought it might make sense. I believe Korean companies need to support open attitudes like these people in order to create a desirable global organizational culture. I wish success to everyone who participated today!
